Eva Vila is a bilingual actor-playwright based in NYC. She first discovered her love for performance doing community theatre in her hometown of Matthews, North Carolina. A queer Italian/Ecuadorian/Puerto Rican, Eva is passionate about bringing underrepresented stories to the stage and screen. She recently starred in the sapphic short films Love Language and Aphids, and originated a leading role in the new play Birdwatching.
She is currently studying Theatre Performance & Playwriting at Fordham University with a minor in Spanish. Her training emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration, and her instructors have included Broadway actress Tina Benko, Linklater expert Andrea Haring, and movement artist Dawn Saito. Playwriting and dramaturgy classes have fomented Eva’s love for new and developing works. She aims to add a bold, multihyphenate perspective to every rehearsal room. Romance, comedy, and evil masterminds are her specialties. Eva has also received training from NC Governor’s School for Theatre and Wake Forest University’s Screenwriting Institute.
Eva prizes acting and writing as avenues to speak truth to power, give voice to the voiceless, and celebrate love, empathy, and humanity in an increasingly cruel, isolated world. Through her work, she hopes to engender community, kindness, and understanding. When she’s not acting or writing, Eva can be found building sets for Fordham’s Mainstage season or designing lights for the Studio shows.
